As an added benefit, our Commercial Department are now able to offer the services of Peninsula UK Limited, the UK’s leading H&S/Employment Law consultants.
Keeping up with all the health & safety regulations might seem like an impossible task, but non-compliance could be putting your employees at risk, as well as your business.
You are in safe hands
You are in safe hands with Peninsula Business Services. They are the UK's leading Consultants, with an unrivalled track record, a wealth of experience and a pragmatic approach which gives effective solutions to highly complex problems.
Health & safety is too broad a topic for any one person to know it all, so over the years they have brought together a team which has specific expertise in every area. They have practical hands-on experience, coming from backgrounds as diverse as enforcement, logistics and engineering and their academic qualifications are a match for any Health & Safety Officer, in fact many are accredited as Quality Assessors and Trainers within the ISO framework.
Although you will have your own personal Consultant for day to day matters, it is this breadth of experience we can draw upon which gives you a service that is second to none
Our personal approach to individual requirements
Every client is different and Peninsula pride themselves on tailoring their service to suit client’s individual requirements. Firstly, they will assess your business and highlight any areas of immediate concern by producing a prioritised health and safety inspection report for you to action. They will then introduce the relevant systems, documentation and procedures which will cover all of your health & safety requirements with the minimum of fuss and disruption to your business.
Easy to follow documentation will be given to employees covering health & safety issues, and what systems and procedures there are to follow. And for designated members of staff, who will be involved in maintaining it we have a comprehensive training programme.
Peninsula’s consultants will review your situation every year to make sure everything is running smoothly by visiting your main site and other locations, checking the documentation and seeing if any improvements can be made.
And should a sudden crisis arise day or night, or you just need a private conversation out of office hours, they can give you immediate and practical advice on their 24 Hour Advice Line.
Peninsula believe in business it always pays to be safe, not sorry
European directives, Government legislation and regulatory provisions have created a minefield for businesses trying to keep up to date with new legislation and made it an impossible task, but non-compliance could be putting your business at risk.
By the time many employers realise they have put a foot wrong, it's too late. One only needs to look at the dramatic rise in the number of Employment Tribunals over the past 10 years, to see that this lack of knowledge by employers is not shared by their employees!
Which is why more businesses are turning to Peninsula. The Personnel Services Department now has over 60 staff and specialist Consultants who provide cover for the whole of the United Kingdom.
Protect your business from the threat of legal red tape
Peninsula’s consultants are highly qualified, experienced and have the support of extensive resources to ensure that your company's employment practices and documentation are always in line with current legislation. Their aim is to shield you from the masses of paperwork, while protecting your business from legal action.
The first step is for your Personnel Consultant to review your terms and conditions of employment on your premises and amend anything which is found lacking.
Next, a Statement of Main Terms of Employment needs to be written for every member of staff - a difficult task requiring detailed legal knowledge. Employee and Management Handbooks will also be prepared, containing contractual terms, rules and procedures.
Although this can be a major undertaking on our part, it is done with minor interference and can normally be concluded within three visits.
Easy to understand guidance
To ensure that no one is left in the dark you will be provided with an Employment Reference Manual which has easy to understand guidance and information on all aspects of employment law (updates will be sent to you when relevant changes in the law take place).
The service does not end with the installation of sound employment practices. Peninsula will undertake periodic audits to ensure that they are functioning correctly and you will be assigned a Personnel Consultant who will be available when you need him/her to ensure that your business is kept fully up to date with current legislation.
Managing Employment Tribunal applications is not a part-time job, so Peninsula have a dedicated team of Advocates who specialise solely in client representation full-time.
The Advocates are highly skilled and experienced. They come from the same backgrounds as Tribunal members - the legal profession, industry, personnel and trade unions - so they can anticipate areas of concern.
Naturally they have an in-depth knowledge of all legal practices, processes and procedures, in fact some are Employment Tribunal Lay Members. They have a flair for presenting evidence, making astute submissions on points of fact and the law, and for conducting insightful cross-examinations.
The personal touch
Peninsula believe in a personal approach, keeping their clients informed and reassured at every stage of the proceedings. They spend time visiting your premises, gathering evidence and interviewing witnesses with the minimum of fuss or disruption. While in the background, They will be putting their extensive resources into researching and compiling your case.
Peninsula don't just know the law inside out, they have helped shape it. They have set precedents at the Employment Appeal Tribunal and have even received their support by understanding practices and procedures better than a Regional Tribunal Office. Decisions have been overturned on Review and by Appeals and they have frequently had costs awarded against applicants and their deposits forfeited.
A proven track record in winning cases
Peninsula’s Advocates have a wealth of experience and a proven track record in winning cases and minimising losses, which could be invaluable when protecting your business.
The goal in any Employment Tribunal is to minimise the costs to your business, either in financial settlements, legal fees, or the time and stress which can burden key personnel. Peninsula does this by matching their extensive resources and expertise to suit your exact needs.
From the start Peninsula will arrange events to fit in with your schedule - after all you have a business to run. For instance, they can apply for an extension of time to submit the Notice of Appearance by Respondent or apply to postpone the hearing to a later date should your witness availability change. In court, a little knowledge can be a dangerous thing, so they like to be thorough. By making site visits, gathering background information and conducting interviews, they will build up a detailed picture of the circumstances surrounding the incident and the operation of your business.
Peninsula. Your best defence
Peninsula like to keep their clients up to date with all relevant issues as a case progresses, whilst shielding them from the mass of bureaucratic procedures surrounding preliminary and jurisdictional matters. All the documentation is gathered together and presented on the day with diagrams or visual aids as necessary, for more complex cases. The Advocates will take care of all the proceedings to put your case over as clearly and unequivocally as possible.
And even if you don't win, you cannot lose. Peninsula’s service is covered by an insurance indemnity, protecting you against the legal costs of defending a claim and compensatory awards in most Tribunal cases. Whatever your situation or circumstances, their Employment Tribunal Representation service is your best defence.
